Honeymoon in Europe
Amsterdam
Thinking of taking your European honeymoon in the city of canals? In Amsterdam, there are many romantic activities to enjoy. Backpack & Explore’s Sanjana offers the following advice:
With more than 1250 bridges and 150 canals across the little city, Amsterdam offers scenery to die for. One of the most liberal and accepting cities in the whole globe, it welcomes everyone with open arms. With captivating scenery, lovely parks, and old museums, it is also one of Europe’s easiest towns to get about. This is what makes it one of the best honeymoon spots in Europe.
Recommended activities: One of the nicest things to do here is to stroll along the bridges while taking in the sunset. The finest of Amsterdam can be seen in 3 days, but if you’re on your honeymoon, you’ll need more time. You may rent a private houseboat on the canals to add an extra unique touch.
Even if you don’t, taking a sail around Amsterdam’s extensive network of canals is a must while you are there. On your honeymoon in Europe, don’t forget to check out the Van Gogh museum and enjoy the fantastic artwork.
On a day trip to the picturesque Giethoorn town, the dreamy Marken island, or the ancient Zaanse Schans, you may see some really lovely Dutch landscapes. There is no need to skip a day trip to Lisse if you go in the spring since you will adore the blooming everywhere.
Recommended hotel: IBIS Budget Amsterdam City South
Vis Island, Croatia
Your honeymoon in Europe should be spent somewhere more off the beaten path, recommends Nausheen from Globe Gazers.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: The Vis Island tourist industry is still quite young. It was only made public in 1989 after years of use as a military zone. Small in size, not overly developed for tourists, and still not widely recognized. You may complete the picture of romance by adding the Island’s breathtaking vistas, pristine seas, and charming streets to its isolated appeal.
Recommended activities: At one of Vis’ numerous eateries, enjoy fish or a typical peak meal (try Pojoda). From the island’s Komiza side, explore the Blue Caves, or spend the day traveling by boat from Vis to Hvar. Or just go for a swim wherever you are and jump in the water.
Recommended hotel: Your best option is to stay in an Airbnb because Vis’s tourist industry is still very underdeveloped.
Faroe Islands
Do you know what the Faroe Islands are? This stunning location is quickly gaining popularity among tourists. Paige from For the Love of Wanderlust offers some suggestions for places to go and includes a beautiful picture.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Because it seems like an actual vacation, the Faroe Islands make for an incredible honeymoon location. It’s simple to just completely concentrate on enjoying time with your new spouse because it’s such an isolated area of the planet. In addition, the cooler temperature is a fantastic justification for cuddling.
Recommended activities: I strongly advise going outside. Nature enthusiasts will find paradise in the Faroe Islands. Here, the scenery is unmatched. There are mountains, rocky inlets, and spectacular waterfalls along the shore. There are also charming beach towns that are lovely to meander around. Don’t forget to look at the houses with sod roofs.
Recommended hotel: Although we stayed in a very secluded and lovely Airbnb, we had heard wonderful things about the Havgrim Seaside Hotel in Tórshavn, the most well-known town.
Tuscany, Italy
Italy is unquestionably the best European destination for a honeymoon. It’s possible that Tuscany has a unique appeal. Dan from Honeymoon Always offers his advice for a honeymoon in Italy.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: It’s time to rest and decompress following what might be a demanding wedding. Tuscany is a fantastic honeymoon location where you can unwind, take in the beautiful countryside, visit a few vineyards, and eat a tonne of delicious food.
Recommended activities: Visit Florence with a friend to view works of art like The David at the Accademia Gallery, stunning buildings like Basilica di Santa Croce, where Michelangelo and Galileo are buried, shop for jewelry at Ponte Vecchio, and watch the sunset over the city from Piazzale Michelangelo.
You may see the old city of San Gimignano, ride a horse through vineyards and olive groves, and stay at a welcoming bed and breakfast while there. In Tuscany, there are many tiny villages that are interesting to see and are simple to fit into a day excursion while the group is off touring the capital.
Recommended hotel: For a bed & breakfast in Florence, consider Villino Fiorentino. In the countryside outside of San Gimignano, consider Il Vicario for a bed & breakfast.
Black Forest, Germany
Consider Germany’s Black Forest if your fantasy landscape and charming towns are what your Europe honeymoon ideas call for. You can ask Sabrina at Moon & Honey Travel for specific directions.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Many people think that the gloomy and scary conifer trees of the Black Forest served as inspiration for the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. So, this area of Baden-Württemberg is ideal if you’re seeking for honeymoon places straight out of a fairy tale.
Recommended activities: Discover Schiltach, Calw, Breisach, and Gengenbach, four picture-perfect towns. Next, proceed to Baden-Baden, a magnificent spa town, for a memorable end to your honeymoon in Europe. The mineral-rich waters of Friedrichsbad and Caracalla Spa are available here for bathing. Visit the town’s thermal baths before having supper at the family-run Zum Alde Gott.
Recommended hotel: Belle Epoque
Portugal
Portugal, according to Daryl & Mindi of 2foodtrippers, provides the ideal balance of cuisine and environment for a dream honeymoon.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: For couples seeking a romantic vacation packed with beautiful landscapes and delectable cuisine, Portugal is a terrific honeymoon location. We can say this with confidence because we spent our unforgettable honeymoon there in 2007. The nation enchanted us with its various beauties, particularly its remote beaches and port buildings.
Recommended activities: Portuguese honeymooners can spend their days exploring the Algarve’s wide coastline or exploring the attractive towns of Lisbon and Porto. However, nights with Portuguese cuisine, regional wine, and Fado music are just as wonderful.
Recommended hotel: Portugal has a wide range of hotels, from modest inns to luxurious resorts. We advise booking a stay in one of the nation’s 34 historic Pousadas as a particular treat. Each opulent Pousada has its own past and offers a distinctive hotel experience.
Svalbard, Norway
The far north may well be the ideal place to go on a honeymoon. The Round the World Guys’ Halef & Michael tell us all there is to know about Svalbard.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Consider going to the Arctic Circle for your honeymoon if you’re looking for an “adventure.” Although it is not a typical honeymoon location in Europe, it surprisingly provides a lot that married couples could find to be extremely delightful.
Recommended activities: The northernmost human population in the world resides in Svalbard, which also has extraordinary scenery. The capital, Longyearbyen, is an excellent place to organize various activities. Anything from hiking excursions to day outings to the deserted mining village of Pyramiden in the Soviet Union during the winter.
The town of Longyearbyen is a nice spot to chill out. In Svalbard, there are many wonderful hotels and restaurants to pick from. Each and every one of them is quite pleasant; they are all communal spaces with lots of huge cushions, blankets, fireplaces, and windows. After all, many tourists opt to stay indoors at their nice hotels when the weather is chilly.
Recommended hotel: The Radisson Blu Polar Hotel is one of the greatest locations to stay for couples and is renowned for its hot tub with a spectacular view. This location would make for an excellent Instagram wedding photo if you were honeymooning in Svalbard.
Paris
The world’s top honeymoon locations continuously include the City of Lights and the City of Paris. Our Escape Clause’s Kate provides some fantastic suggestions for things to do in this enchanted city.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: The city of love truly is the ideal location for a honeymoon; it’s difficult to think of another place that compares. There are many romantic things to do in Paris, like strolling down the Seine, taking in the breathtaking architecture, and enjoying the city’s many cafés, mouthwatering cuisine, and famous vistas.
Recommended Activities: Be sure to take a hand-in-hand stroll through the Louvre, steal a kiss between the walkways in the Luxembourg Gardens, visit quaint cafes in Montmartre, take in the Paris skyline from the top of Notre Dame or the Arc de Triomphe, and watch the Eiffel Tower’s sunset in the Trocadero Gardens while you’re on your honeymoon in Paris.
Couples who enjoy cooking might want to hone their baking skills by enrolling in a macaron or croissant-baking class; those who enjoy the nightlife might want to catch a burlesque performance; and those who enjoy museums don’t just have to stop at the Louvre—think about also visiting the Musee Rodin, Musee d’Orsay, and the Orangerie, to name a few!
Recommend hotel: Le Clos Medicis is a budget-friendly option for a honeymoon hotel in Paris, leaving you with more money to enjoy delectable cuisine and unique activities. The lobby is stunningly gorgeous and the location—just a 5-minute walk from the Luxembourg Gardens—is incomparable, despite the fact that the rooms are quite tiny, as is usual in Paris.
PS: For the perfect keepsake on your honeymoon in Paris, schedule a couples picture session.
Barcelona
Vicki of Vicki Viaja discusses all the wonderful things about Barcelona, and it has really motivated me to plan a vacation there.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Barcelona is home to some stunning buildings and winding lanes with a Gothic feel. How can you not fall in love all over again after strolling hand in hand along the beach amongst the palm palms and taking in Barcelona’s year-round bright sunshine and awe-inspiring view?
Recommended activities: On a honeymoon in Europe, there are so many romantic things to do in Barcelona. Barcelona is abundant with places that are perfect for a stroll, including the beach and several lovely parks. Even a park with a labyrinth in the middle where you may get lost together exists (and hopefully find your way out again).
A stroll to the Carmel Bunkers is another well-liked pastime. You may enjoy a breathtaking Panoramic view of the entire city from there. The experience is made much better if you arrive here very early in the morning and get to view a beautiful sunrise. Its delectable cuisine and wine are other items you should unquestionably appreciate together. You must sample a few glasses of Catalonia’s delicious, high-quality wine before leaving.
Recommended Hotel: Ciutat de Barcelona
Alsace, France
Oh my gosh! Who’s up for a French honeymoon? Lena of Happily Ever Adventures offers advice based on her personal travels around the Alsace area.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: While Paris is frequently referred to as the city of love, we believe the Alsace area of France to be the ideal location for a honeymoon in Europe.
The area is home to lovely landscapes, enchanted castles, picture-perfect little villages, breathtaking architecture, and passionate vineyards. Your honeymoon would seem like it came from a beautiful fantasy. You won’t have to pick between Alsace and Paris, so don’t worry. Both are simple to combine into a lovely European honeymoon!
Recommended activities: Go on lengthy romantic walks and spend some time discovering the many quaint towns that make up the Alsace area. Strasbourg, Colmar, and Riquewihr are three of our favorites. Take a boat trip around Colmar’s picture-perfect canals while enjoying a picnic of cheese and champagne. Visit the stunning vineyards in the area on a wine tour. White wines from Alsace are mostly recognized for being dry and crisp.
Visit the area’s historic castles. Our favorites are the Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg, Saint Ulrich, Ginsberg, and the Abbey of Mont Sainte-Odile (an old abbey, but still lovely and well worth a visit!). Check out the region’s renowned spectacular Christmas markets if you’re on your honeymoon in the winter. Strasbourg has the greatest ones!
Recommended hotel: Le Parc Hotel Obernai & Spa
Cinque Terre, Italy
You’ll be inspired by Victoria of Follow Me Away as she lists Cinque Terre, Italy, as one of the best honeymoon spots in all of Europe.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: The Ligurian Coast of Italy’s Cinque Terre is the stuff of honeymoon fantasies! This is one of the most distinctive, tranquil, and lovely honeymoon spots in all of Europe. The Italian Ligurian Coast is home to the five vibrant communities together known as Cinque Terre. This means that on your honeymoon, you have a lot of beautiful sites to explore.
Recommended activities: Imagine enjoying a leisurely morning visiting the neighboring beaches, hiking to wineries and views, and eating al fresco with your new husband in the evening.
In Cinque Terre, there is never a poor time of year to be married. Although the weather will be warmer during the summer, you will have to share the beach with other tourists.
The weather will be cooler in the winter, making it more likely that you will laze on the beach in jeans and a sweater, but rates will be lower and there won’t be any other visitors around. Depending on your preferences, financial situation, and hobbies, you can plan your honeymoon to Cinque Terre at any season of the year!
Recommended hotel: The hotel I recommend is Rooms Elisabetta Carro since it puts you in the center of the action, has an amazing view and is close to the beach.
There are lodging alternatives in Cinque Terre for every price range, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a place to stay. You may locate some fantastic possibilities by just deciding the town or locations you wish to stay in and then choosing your budget.
Budapest
Italian Trip Abroad’s Toti & Alessia provide their recommendations for things to do and places to stay in charming Budapest.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Love, adventure, unwind and repeat. It looks like the ideal way to spend a passionate honeymoon in Europe. These three adjectives best describe Budapest, a special city. Spending up to a week here makes sense because it is so reasonably priced. This breathtaking place in Eastern Europe has a romantic feel because of the city’s lighting and the surrounding landmarks.
Recommended activities: Compared to Rome or Paris, Budapest is even more romantic. Although it lacks an instantly recognizable iconic landmark, it boasts several beautiful landscapes and an intriguing history. The expense of this vacation will be recovered by the view of the Parliament at night and the Fisherman’s Bastion on the opposite side of the Danube River.
Budapest’s spa is one of the nicest things to do, so make use of it. I’ll wager everything that as soon as you hear the term “Spa,” you’ll start making travel arrangements for Budapest. Although most stores in Budapest take the Euro, the conversion rates will make your trip to the spa—and its numerous facilities like massages, oils, and therapy—even cheaper.
Recommended hotel: For honeymooners, the Intercontinental Hotel in the Pest neighborhood of the city is the ideal option. This five-star hotel offers a front-row seat to both the river and Buda Castle, which is perched on a hill.
Amalfi Coast, Italy
Italy will always be there if you run out of options for honeymoon places in Europe. What about the Amalfi Coast? Our guide Victoria from Bridges and Balloons explains why couples love this place so much.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: One of Italy’s most enchanting locations for a honeymoon is the Amalfi Coast. In this area, colorful settlements fall down the cliffs from the mountains to the sea. Even if the journey down the coast is reason enough to go, you should also visit Capri island and spend some time in some of the smaller villages.
Recommended activities: Visit Ravello, a chic mountainside village with stunning views of the sea, and Positano, two of the most attractive coastal villages. Take a boat to Capri as well, making stops at grottos and caverns along the route. You have a wide variety of romantic Italian and seafood restaurants to choose from, many of which have stunning views of the coastline.
Recommended hotel: Casa Angelina
Bulgarian Riviera
Perhaps you’d like a honeymoon in Eastern Europe. The coast of Bulgaria provides some amazing possibilities, according to Stephanie of Sofia Adventures!
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: The Black Sea is actually brilliant greens and blues with rolling waves and sand beaches rather than being black. You may pick between staying in the UNESCO city of Nessebar or the energetic Varna thanks to the excellent resort hotels in Bulgaria that line the shore.
Recommended activities: Swim at the pink Lake Atanasovsko, cover yourself in its therapeutic mud, and then rinse off in the Black Sea a short distance away.
Recommended hotel: Evrika Beach Club
Andalusia, Spain
Spain has so many interesting regions. Andalusia is a wonderful honeymoon destination, according to Inma of A World to Travel.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: A honeymooner’s paradise is Andalusia. Andalusia is a fantastic location for lovers thanks to its endless green fields where orange and olive trees grow, the fine sand beaches of some of its major cities, national parks worth visiting like Diana, the Arab baths of cities like Granada and Seville, its historical-architectural heritage, its unique music, its tapas bars, and above all its hospitable people.
Recommended activities: There is nothing better than driving through some of Andalusia’s major cities. We advise you to begin in Malaga and go along the coast to Tarifa, which is famed for its strong winds and kite- and windsurfing enthusiasts, and Cadiz.
But not before stopping to take in a sunset in Tarifa’s dunes or near the lighthouse at Trafalgar. Drive inland after that, staying in Seville for two to three days, before continuing on to Granada and the stunning Sierra Nevada, stopping along the way at the charming Ronda.
Recommended hotel: Alhambra Palace Hotel, Granada
London
It should not be surprising that there are numerous romantic activities in London because it is a large city with many lovely locations. It’s unquestionably a fantastic location for a honeymoon in Europe. Leona from the Wanderlust Family explains why in detail.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: London is the sole option, in my opinion, if you’re seeking the greatest city in Europe to spend your honeymoon. For me, London has everything you could want for a romantic getaway—historic sites, delicious food, incredible luxury accommodations, vibrant nightlife, and excellent activities!
Recommended activities: The greatest and most diverse food can be found in this city. From unique and immersive eating alternatives to some of the top Michelin-starred restaurants in the world, which make for the ideal romantic date!
Alternatively, why not treat yourself to a traditional British afternoon tea at one of London’s numerous five-star hotels? As you dress up for the occasion, this will definitely be romantic! For the majority of London’s afternoon teas, reservations are required in advance.
But simply walking around the city is my favorite activity in London! There is nothing more romantic, in my opinion than meandering through a city after supper. It is the ideal city for doing so. Along the Thames, through ancient Greenwich, and through the lively Covent Garden plaza are some of my favorite spots to stroll. London is the best city in the world to get lost in!
Why not take a date to one of London’s wonderful and frequently free museums if you believe that romance and culture go hand in hand? If museums aren’t your thing, London is home to one of the greatest theatre areas in the world. Treat yourself to a show; London has a fantastic and diverse theatre culture, with anything from musicals to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre to the longest-running play The Mousetrap!
Recommended hotel: The majestic St Pancras Hotel and the lovely One Aldwych in Covent Garden are just two of the romantic hotels that London is home to. Whether you’re looking for contemporary luxury or ancient charm, London offers the perfect romantic lodging for you!
Hallstatt, Austria
This lovely overview and thorough advice for one of Austria’s most attractive honeymoon locations are provided by Scott from Take Back Roads.
Destination: Hallstatt, Austria
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: The charming alpine hamlet of Hallstatt is located in the Austrian Alps, an hour’s drive east of Salzburg, on a thin slice of steep land. The 2,500-year-old settlement, wedged between the imposing mountains that surround it and the crystal-clear waters of Lake Hallstatt, is today a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Traditional wood and stucco alpine residences, as well as family-run stores, boutiques, and eateries, fill the streets. Visitors are lodged in quaint, historic bed and breakfasts located all throughout the village rather than generic commercial hotels.
The only ways to get around the little hamlet are on foot or by bicycle because it is a protected site and non-resident automobiles are absolutely forbidden (there is a paid parking area approximately 100 yards outside of town). As a result, it genuinely seems like a fantastic journey back in time.
Several eateries have gorgeous lakeside patios, and many provide cozy tables for meals. Of course, there are the vistas. The breathtaking mountain vistas across the hamlet and its surrounds are indescribable. What a romantic location for a honeymoon.
Recommended activities: On your honeymoon, Hallstatt offers a variety of romantic activities, such as hiring a small motorboat to cruise the lake or taking a bigger wooden gondola-style watercraft across the lake to Obertraun. Paddle boats are also available that mimic the magnificent white geese that swarm the lake’s surface in the summer.
Spend hours meandering around the village’s antique streets, or take the funicular up to the mountain’s summit to see the old salt mines and take in the breathtaking panoramic view. A charming central market area with stalls, outdoor dining restaurants and cafés, boutiques and stores, a small fountain, and plenty of seats for relaxing and soaking it all in is there. The aforementioned family-run taverns, restaurants, cafés, and even a brewpub are all present.
Recommended hotel: The Braugasthof Lobisser is without a doubt your finest choice. This 600-year-old B&B and brewery has gorgeous inlaid wood paneling, antique wooden floorboards that groan, and traditional Austrian decorations and pictures all around the place.
This hotel offers everything you could possibly want with around a dozen rooms in total (about a third have enormous balconies) distributed over three stories, a breakfast area, dining room, and kitchen on the ground floor, and arguably the greatest lakefront beer garden-style patio across the alley.
This is the most affordable choice we could locate (price to the value of the amenities). The traditional Austrian cuisine and freshly brewed beer are excellent, the staff is welcoming and helpful, the complimentary breakfast is filling and well-prepared, and the views from the hotel balconies are incomparable.
If you reserve long enough in advance, be sure to ask for room number 8. The views from this accommodation, which is the only one in the hotel with two balconies (one facing the lake and one facing the village), are breathtaking, yet it costs the same as other rooms with balconies.
Rome, Italy
Rome must be included on a list of popular honeymoon locations in Europe! One of the most well-known and adored cities in Europe is the subject of Cazzy’s suggestions from Dream Big, Travel Far.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Romance frequently conjures up images of Rome. As the “capital of romance,” it should come as no surprise that it makes for the ideal honeymoon location in Europe. It’s a location that works for all kinds of couples. Rome is the place for you if you want real Italian cuisine, good wine, stunning architecture, historic sites, and a drink of Limoncello.
Recommended activities: Find charming eateries to eat at, then explore the area to find the best gelato shops. Rent a rowboat on the Borghese Lake and create your own romantic moment. Toss a penny into the Trevi Fountain together and hope for enduring love.
Recommended hotel: Choose Villa Spalletti Trivelli for a memorable hotel experience; it’s only 10 minutes from the Trevi Fountain.
Llubljana, Slovenia
Despite its difficult-to-pronounce name, Ljubljana has a lot to offer couples traveling together. Below is a perfect itinerary provided by Emily of Wander-Lush:
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Little Ljubljana, one of Europe’s most underestimated capitals, exudes romanticism and nostalgia. The largest city in Slovenia was built on the mythology of a love story that slew a dragon, and it has a pink baroque cathedral as its focal point, art nouveau buildings, cobblestone streets, and a bizarre fusion of Mediterranean and continental European traditions.
With their tables out in the sun, a continuous line of cafés and wine bars along Ljubljana’s riverbank promenade lure tourists. The beautiful lake of Bled, which is less than two hours away by vehicle, offers one of the most romantic settings for outdoor activities in the area.
Recommended activities: The best way to see Ljubljana is on foot by crossing the stone bridges and exploring the little streets. Follow your nose around the Central Market, which is a bustling farmers’ market on weekends, starting at the main square, stopping sometimes at old chapels and for a glass of Slovenian wine and some pizza.
Take a traditional Pletna (a wooden boat resembling a gondola) out to the island in Bled after walking or cycling around the lake. Numerous spas are located along the lake’s edge, or if solitude is more your style, explore the canyons, caves, and swimming holes nearby. Castles in Bled and Ljubljana both boast breathtaking vistas.
Recommended hotel: Antiq Palace Hotel & Spa (Ljubljana); Vila Bled Luxury Boutique Hotel (Bled).
Crete
A honeymoon in Greece would undoubtedly be wonderfully romantic. As explained by Allison of Sofia Adventures, Crete is a superb option.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: For those seeking a Greek island away from Mykonos and Santorini’s tourist hordes, Crete is ideal. Even while it’s still a popular island, its vastness (the largest in Greece! ) guarantees that you’ll uncover hidden gems, such as Rethymnon’s picturesque Venetian Harbor, Seitan Limania’s rocky beach, or Chania’s ancient districts.
Recommended activities: The finest honeymoon destination in Europe for those seeking a little adventure and wanting to veer off the beaten path in Crete. Explore the tens of thousands of stunning beaches that make up Crete’s coastline by renting a vehicle.
The most stunning ones include Elafonisi beach with its pink-hued sand, Seitan Limania with its natural canyon, and Balos Lagoon with its small strip of sand separating two gorgeous streaks of the turquoise sea. Many of these beaches are only reachable after a nice boat journey or short trek.
Other incredible Greek honeymoon activities include sipping wonderful Cretan wines, touring one of the world’s oldest olive groves, taking sailing or boat trips in the Mediterranean, and indulging in ridiculously good Greek food in cozy tavernas.
Recommended hotel: Rimondi Boutique Hotels
Saariselka, Finland
When organizing a honeymoon in Europe, don’t overlook Scandinavia. Lapland, Finland, is so beautifully described by Sara from Our Kind of Crazy that I want to visit it right away!
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Saariselka, Finland, is the destination to choose if you’ve ever dreamed of the ideal winter honeymoon trip. One of the nicest places to visit on your honeymoon, it is the epitome of a “winter wonderland.”
Saariselka is in Finland’s Lapland, making it an ideal location to see the Northern Lights. You may cozily observe the auroras from the comfort of your accommodation by renting a glass igloo cabin. There are a number of things you may do while on your honeymoon in Saariselka if seeing the Northern Lights isn’t one of the most amazing experiences.
Recommended activities: This honeymoon in Europe has a “Winter Wonderland” theme, thus snow is a recurring element. The sports available in Lapland include cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, husky rides, and ice fishing.
Along with chasing the Northern Lights, you may interact with reindeer, cross frozen lakes, and have a drink at a bar created entirely of ice and snow. A winter honeymoon in Europe is unbeatable!
Recommended hotel: The Northern Lights Village
Provence, France
The Solo Sophie Sophie explains why the romantic Provence is the ideal honeymoon location in Europe.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Perhaps no other region in France is as beautiful as Provence, with its unending fields of lavender, picture-perfect towns, and salty seascapes. There are opportunities to stay in French châteaux, witness breathtaking sunsets, and get lost in the region’s wines for those seeking unique experiences.
Recommended activities: Provence offers it everything and more, whether you’re a foodie, a history buff, or just want to hit the beach. One of the nicest things to do in Provence is taking a road trip to view the lavender fields and the several ancient villages scattered around the region.
The delightful “city of a hundred fountains,” Aix-en-Provence, has butter-stone homes and an impressionist history, while Cassis is one of the most picturesque towns in the entire Mediterranean region.
Recommended hotel: Château de Cassis
Edinburgh, Scotland
One of our favorite destinations is discussed by Natasha of The World Pursuit: Edinburgh, Scotland. We originally met there, and it’s still one of our all-time favorite cities.
Why it’s perfect for a honeymoon: Any journey to Scotland will probably begin and conclude in Edinburgh, making it a perfect location for a honeymoon in Europe. Edinburgh doesn’t feel like a huge city, despite being the capital of Scotland. Instead of large skyscrapers blocking the vista, there are historic, well-preserved structures from the 15th century that are open for investigation. Edinburgh is truly like wandering through a European fantasy.
Recommended activities: Calton Hill climbing is one of my favorite activities. Calton Hill, which is conveniently situated and only a five-minute walk away, offers the greatest views of Edinburgh. This results in a close-up perspective that is simple to get.
We advise you to observe the city’s sunset from up here if the weather is nice. Additionally, I advise climbing the Scott Monument, which is a remarkable piece of architecture and offers breathtaking vistas.
Recommended hotel: Chambers in Old Town. In the center of Edinburgh’s Old Town, there is a complex of opulent flats called Old Town Chambers. The apartments are contemporary, roomy, cozy, and unquestionably opulent.
